Lauri Fitz-Simmons: Imaginative Play, Outside of the Logical
Back by popular demand

Lauri Fitz-Simmons is the parent of a son with autism. Concerned about her son’s ability to engage in imaginative play, she decided to call on her skills from her “former life”. As a professional improve artist, Lauri recognized the potential for creative play and communication by simply getting down on the floor and being silly with her child. He slowly began to imitate and interact. Sensing she was on to something, Lauri began to research the role of parental interaction with children who have special needs and has created a program to help parents learn how to play with their kids in a whole new way.

Congratulations to Cheryl. Laurie, & Sue who were chosen to present the Imaginative Play Program at The Association for the Study of Play (TASP) International Conference in Atlanta in February.
