Parent Education Night
Imaginative Play, Outside of the Logical
Dear Therapy In Action,
What a wonderful evening!
I had to take a moment this morning to tell you what a wonderful
evening you provided us via Laurie Fitz-Simmons lecture on
how to play with your kids.
I am one of Dr. Greenspan’s Senior Clinician’s
here on the west coast, instructing families on the intricacies
of Floor Time. So often when I coach parents to get down on
the floor and play with their child, their response is that
they don’t know how to play, or that they never really
played or worse yet, that they have forgotten how to play.
I want to tell you that Laurie is a “natural floortimer”.
Her natural enthusiasm is contagious and I was amazed at the
ease in which she got 30 adults to get down on the floor and
play! Her imaginative play, outside of the logical, is unique
link for helping parents to be both inventive and persistent
when it comes to drawing the child back into the world at
large. It was a fun and informative evening. Much thanks again.
Esther B. Hess, Ph.D.
